Delphi Teen Sketch Program Back at the Museum

Delphi Teen Sketch is a high school program for Philadelphia public school students to explore, create, and discuss art alongside other Philadelphia teens. 

The program invites practicing artists and art professionals to share their stories and techniques as well as introduce students to career pathways in the arts.

In the Teen Sketch sessions, the concept of "sketching" is an act of exploration and experimentation. Goals include making a creative space for students to share their art, learning from each other, and experimenting in a variety of artistic media.

For the first time in two years, Teen Sketch came together in-person for a four-week session this summer at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. They worked with teaching artists Andrew Christman and Monay Songster to explore works in the museum’s collection. 

In the studios, students created artworks in the mediums of collage, screen-printing, and sculpture. Their artwork investigated themes of Identity & Community. The program helps students to build their portfolio and technical skills needed to pursue the arts at the college level. Teen Sketch will return to an in-person after-school program at the Philadelphia Museum of Art this fall.
